If someone would have asked a hundred years back: “What is a dog?” The answer would have been: “House guard”. Today, the dog is a part of the family. He accompanies us on trips, hikes, grocery shopping, visits to restaurants, and he is by our side in the important moments of our life: Birthdays, graduations, weddings and when children enter the family. The dog has become a life companion from a house guard. We also agree that the dog can be called man’s best friend. Therefore in all 12 of Garden Apartments we allow to stay with dogs! Garden Apartments – dog friendly short term rental apartments in Riga.

It is for this reason that we have collected places to visit and things to do in Riga, where a dog can be a person’s +1.

Where to go with dog in Riga?

The first, in our opinion, should be the Agenskalns market, Nometnu Street 64. In less than 20 minutes, walking from our apartments, you can get to this absolutely amazing place. The market has preserved the old values, but they are dressed in an Industrial/Baroque style. The whole building is divided into two floors. The ceiling of the market building is decorated with impressive chandeliers, which visitors often use as part of the background for their social network screenshots.

If you have decided to cook one of your meals yourself while staying in our apartments. On the first floor you will find all the necessary products to prepare a delicious meal from fresh ingredients. However, if you want to enjoy the atmosphere of the market together with your four-legged companion, watch everything from above. The second floor offers wide dining options for all tastes. In cold weather, a glass of a warming drink will also come in handy.

We will not forget to add that cultural events take place here several times a month, and every Sunday pearl hunters can go hunting to find something special, at the existing flea market, or as we call it Krāmnieks.

Parks where you can walk your dog in Riga?

In second place, we will rank three wonderful parks: Arkadija Park, Ojāra Vācieša Street 2B, Victory Park, Zemgale suburb and Māras Pond Park, Zemgale suburb. The greatest thing? All these wonderful parks are few min walk away from Green Garden Apartments!

Man’s best friend will surely be happy and appreciate this choice of ours. Because who wouldn’t want a lazy walk, enjoying the fresh air, in the middle of the city, and if there are three such options, why not use them all.

Mārupīte runs through the Arkadijas park; several waterfalls have been created in the park, which can be viewed from the bridges crossing them.

Each of these parks has a unique layout. River Victory Park is the largest green area in Riga, 90.68 acres. In the territory of the park there is a pond, different types of paths, a children’s playground, a 0.62 miles long skiing/skating path. Here Sakura trees bloom beautifully in the spring, they do not leave anyone who has seen them indifferent.

Māras Pond Park is unique in that the entire park is created next to a 12.25 acre artificially formed pond. This park is especially loved by dog owners, because here you can go for a great walk with your pet, or sit on a bench and simply watch nature and birds together.

Our third recommendation is definitely a visit to Old Riga with your four-legged friend. The very heart of the city has become especially attractive for those who spend their daily and leisure time with their four legged companion. The charm and historical spirit of Old Riga can be felt on every street of the old town. Here, every building has its own story.

After stretching your legs together, to recover your energy, you can go to Caffeine, Audēju Street 15,for a boost of that magic liquid called coffee, but if you want to make your life sweeter, stop by the FAT CAT eclair shop, Rātslaukuma 1. You have any questions, feel free to drop in the Riga Tourism and Information Center, Rātslaukuma 6.

We say:”Why not take the opportunity to be together?” Stay with us and see for yourself – Garden Apartments in Riga are dog friendly short term rental properties!
