We have great news, in Dārziņi, in the Latgale suburb of Riga, in addition to the already existing children’s playgrounds, a new forest trail has been opened, which is divided into three stages for different age groups of children.
But first, let’s start from scratch.
You will find a children’s playground for different age groups with additional outdoor exercise equipment and a basketball court (Children’s playground and exercise area) between Dārziņa Line 51 and Dārziņa 53 Line, next to the terminus of buses (15, 18, 31). Everyone will have something to do here, children will be busy using the facilities of the well-equipped playground, while parents can read a good book while sitting on the nearby benches. But perhaps it is the joint use of exercise machines that will bring the most pleasure and also physical activity. It will take 6 minutes to drive from our apartments.
In the park of Vladimir Kudroj, which is located next to the Dārziņi 7th Line, if you take your grub with you, you will have the pleasure of feeding the ducks living in the pond there. The little ones will definitely want to take advantage of the opportunity to swing on the swings of the children’s playground. There are few people in the park, the river Daugava itself is within reach. At Jāņogu street 69, which is located near the park, there is a great opportunity to get to a small beach on the bank of the Daugava. It will take 4 minutes to get to the park from our apartments by car.
If you want to take advantage of the Daugava’s refreshment , we definitely recommend visiting the Pedestrian Bridge, which is located on Daugavmalas Street 95. This bridge will not only help you get to Zirni Island, but will also take you to the beach. Below the bridge is a man-made waterfall and small rapids. We usually recommend this place as a great place for a walk, both for families with children and dog owners. It will take 4 minutes to get there by car and 13 minutes by foot.
The other Dārziņu beach is located on Daugavmalas Street 123, the beach is equipped with a changing cabin and benches.
As we already mentioned, the new Dārziņi forest trail can be found at Dārziņu Street 172, between Dārziņi Line 35 and Line 36. This new forest trail is divided into three sections, with three different areas of obstacles and nets. The beginning stage is intended for smaller children and the final stage for older children. However, we can safely say that with perseverance and help, all three stages of the trail can be conquered at any age.
If you still want to go a little further – Salaspils city, Salaspils beach, Zviedru Street 9 will offer not only the opportunity for children to play in the children’s playground, on the edge of the Daugava, but also to play volleyball or use one of the outdoor exercise machines there. Picnic tables and fire pits are available here. The beach is equipped with a lifeguard tower.
