With the onset of spring, nature awakens, this is the right time to go for a walk in the National Botanical Garden, Salaspils. There will definitely be something to see here for families with children, lovers of solitude, nature enthusiasts, or simply those who want to find a long-lost but loved variety of roses for their garden. Right now magnolias are blooming in the botanical garden, let’s say that they are a great background for beautiful photos.
But that’s not all, the botanical garden can be proud of its ornamental garden, which is divided into four noteworthy halls – succulent hall, warm subtropical hall, cool subtropical hall and tropical hall. 2100 plants have found a home here. Each of these halls has a unique collection of plants, which is complemented by turtles, parrots, canaries, fish, giant snails and even stick insects. Exhibitions of well-known artists are often held on the second floor of the Orangery.
In February, the environmental education center BOTANIA opened its doors here, a place where you can learn 100 different plant stories with passion and modern technology. The journey starts from the very roots of the trees to their tops. By putting on VR glasses, you can go on a trip to see the roots of trees, tropical forests, but interactive games help children to assume the role of plants, how to grow from a sprout into a flower, measure a tree and count its years, feel the structure and smell of different trees, learn how plants help paint fabric, but when you’re tired, take a breather by sitting on one of the bean bags.
Be ready for an exciting day in nature, but we will wait for you to visit Family Garden Apartments with Free Parking & Playground so you could cook dinner on the grill outdoors.
